Mountain Jadovnik

Prijepolje is a hilly-mountainous area with characteristic natural, hydrographic resources, flora and fauna, and landscapes of rarely preserved beauty. Situated on the fringes of the mountains Jadovnik and Zlatar, on the banks of the rivers Lim, Milesevka and Seljasnica and with numerous villages  and hamlets it forms a complete ecological environment. In close proximity to Prijepolje are canyons which are ideal for rafting, the waterfalls of Sopotnica which spill like pearls over the mountain slopes, and archaic villages which adventurers, explorers, tourists, mountaineers and nature lovers are searching for. Surrounded by picturesque hills and mountains, intersected with deciduous and coniferous forests, amid fragrant meadows there are the villages of Prijepolje: Kamena Gora, Jabuka, Babine, Gostun, Sopotnica, Milakovici, Stranjani, Kacevo, Pravosevo, Aljinovici, Kosatica...Their appeal to tourists is in the environmental wholeness, the esthetics of the landscapes, the healthy natural food, and numerous contents and events from the life and activities in the villages.

South of the mountain Zlatar, between Lim river valleys, Milesevka river and Medjan river, there is settled the mountain Jadovnik. The highest peak is Katunic (1734 m). This mountain area is characterized by spacious pastures, meadows and woods. Therefore today, on Jadovnik, there are many villages, huts and sheepfolds where shepherds kept cattle in the summer period and where women prepare excellent white cheese and cream from milk.

Jadovnik is a mountain of great contrasts and magic. It is wild and unpredictable  and on the other side very fascinating and enchanting. Meadows and lawns are decorated with spruce, juniper and beech. The air is pure and intoxicating. Sometimes in the winter period, snow falls over three meters and you shoul go on this mountain only with experienced guides.
